For clients seeking reimbursement from their insurance providers, I provide the option to request super bills.
What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a detailed receipt that you can request from your therapist in San Diego to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement if your therapist is out-of-network.
What’s Included:
Therapist Information: Name, license number, and practice details.
Session Details: Date, duration (50 minutes), and cost of each session.
Clinical Diagnosis: Required by insurance for processing.
Service Codes: Describes the type of therapy service provided.
How It Works:
Request a superbill after your session.
Submit it to your insurance company.
If approved, receive partial reimbursement based on your out-of-network benefits.
Why Use It?
Allows you to get reimbursed for therapy sessions if your therapist is out-of-network.
Important Considerations:
You may need to meet a deductible first.
Check if your insurance limits the number of reimbursable sessions.

When seeking therapy in San Diego, it’s important to understand your insurance benefits. Here are some questions to ask your insurance provider:
Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
Do I have a deductible?
If so, what is it, and have I met it yet?
Does my plan limit how many therapy sessions in San Diego I can have per calendar year?
If so, what is the limit?
Do I need written approval from my primary care physician for therapy services to be covered?
Financial Assistance for Therapy in San Diego/California.
I partner with different organizations that fund full/partial therapy sessions, to see if you qualify for these programs, I encourage you to complete the application for each program and review their guidelines. Please see below for the programs I currently work with: Loveland Foundation and Aakoma Project.

I do believe mental health services should be accessible to everyone so I do accept some clients at a reduced hourly session rate (Sliding Scale) based on their financial circumstances.
A client may request a sliding scale based on need to assist with the cost of therapy, but this is not a guarantee. Sliding scale reduced session fees are not long term and are offered when there is a sudden or situational financial stressor.
Sessions fees will be revisited after 60 days to reassess one’s ability to pay the full amount.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand.
Otherwise, you may be charged for the full rate of the session.
